Leopard delayed

Apple has issued a statement with details of the release date for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and information that the iPhone is still set for a United States release in June.

Apple will fail to meet it’s tenative release date of “Spring 2007″ for the next version of the Macintosh operating system. Due to the iPhone that was announced during January’s MacWorld conference, Leopard’s release will be pushed back to October 2007. Apple claims that the iPhone contains the most sophistcated mobile software and resources were shifted from Mac OS X development to the iPhone to ensure a release in June.

Mac OS X’s features will be finalised by Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference which takes place in June and developers will receive a beta copy during this event.

For Australia there is no release date for iPhone with “2008″ being the only clue. Telstra is unlikely to pick up the phone based on earlier statements and the iPhone being built in 2.5g technology.
