1.5m Macs shipped this quarter

Apple has seen a 36% increase in Macintosh computers over the year-ago quarter. Over 1.5 million Macs left Apple in the first quarter of 2007 and over 10.5 million of the companies widely sucessful iPod portable music player.

The next generation Mac OS X operating system is due for an October release and as such Apple should expect an even larger increase in sales.

Apple has also released a battery update to address a small number of problems with the portable MacBook and MacBook Pro line.
